Greenstone takes on Europe
June 5, 2010

Luxuriously soft bamboo is now available for European consumers through a  new  English language site and online shop.  Customers all over Europe can finally enjoy the  exquisite luxury of Greenstone’s ecological bamboo home and bath textiles. The new shop welcomes shoppers from within the European Union and opens doors also to interested resellers across the EU.

Greenstone is still one of the only companies offering 100% organic bamboo textiles in Europe. Because it is a new raw material for textiles, bamboo is most often mixed with cotton to appeal to the consumer. However, this reduces the fabulous qualities which bamboo holds, such as antibacterial and hypoallergenic.

The new Greenstone website has also added sections which give visitors an insight to the  company, as well as a fully working contact form through which customers can contact Greenstone with their questions and comments about the products or the site.

The new site is also built to be more use- friendly, by reducing its overall site size, improving the navigation system, and renewing old-fashioned formats into new.

Greenstone has also paid attention to better accessibility by tagging images so that even the visually impaired can now access and browse the website easier.  The new and improved Greenstone website can be viewed at For enquiries and comments please contact Eila Gronroos by email at

Piece of the purest nature

Bamboo as a textile material has quickly risen to compete with cotton as an ecological alternative. As an ecological material bamboo’s growing popularity plays an important role in today’s eco-conscious world. Its cultivation does not require artificial irrigation, chemical fertilisers or pesticides.

Bamboo is a fast-growing grass that is ready to harvest in only 3 to 5 years. It is harvested manually without using any machinery or child labour, and the manufacturing processes to make natural bamboo fibre does not require the use of chemicals.

Due to its round and smooth fibre structure bamboo textiles do not need to, or should, be washed in high temper atures as this might damage the fibre and cause the material to lose its superb quality. As an ecological material bamboo decomposes quickly and does not burden the environment.

Hypoallergenic and luxuriously soft

Bamboo textile can absorb 3 to 4 times more moisture than other textile materials.

Bamboo fabric is not only soft and silky, but it also feels cool in warm and warm in cold. 100% bamboo is valued for its exceptional features. It is antibacterial, odourless and hypoallergenic due to its exceptional fibre structure. This is why bamboo is so widely used around Asia in healthcare, as well as water and air purification.

Perfect for gifts or to own use

Greenstone bath-and home textile series was designed to support the global trends for ecology and sustainability, and to offer Scandinavian quality and luxurious products without burdening the environment.

The Greenstone product family consists of 100% organic bamboo towels, bathrobes, slippers, bath hood and wash mitten, head rest and pillow, and a luxuriously soft throw. All Greenstone products have been designed and tested in Finland, and manufactured in controlled environment.
